Embracing Self-Care: Moving Beyond Feeling Stuck

It's Self-Care Sunday, and I want to take this opportunity to talk about a feeling many of us know all too well: being "STUCK". It might have been something you experienced in the past, or it could be a current struggle. But what does it really mean to feel stuck?

My Experience with Feeling Stuck

For me, being stuck felt incredibly heavy, like the weight of the world was resting on my shoulders. It was a time filled with uncertainty and confusion. Despite all my efforts, nothing seemed to go right. My self-confidence took a hit, and a series of negative emotions followed. I tried changing my attitude, staying positive, and switching up my tactics. These strategies would work for a while, but eventually, the confusing cycle of uncertainty would return.

Addressing 'Stuckness' in Abusive Relationships

If you find yourself stuck in an abusive relationship, it's crucial to seek professional help to create a safety plan. Leaving an abusive situation can be the most dangerous time, so having support is vital. Remember, you don't have to face this alone.

Shifting My Focus

This time, my sense of being stuck wasn't about domestic violence. It was about feeling trapped in life, work, and career. A series of events were unfolding, and then, the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back finally hit! I reached a point of frustration that led me to make a change. I took action. I made a change. I didn't share my decision immediately; I waited until it was necessary. It was a scary move, but once I started the sequence of events, I had to follow through. And since making that move, I feel lighter and freer.

Insights from Mel Robbins

Are you feeling stuck? I recently listened to a podcast featuring an interview between Mel Robbins and Steve Bartlett on "Diary of a CEO." Mel Robbins said something that resonated with me:

"Human beings are designed to grow. When you stop growing, what do you feel?

Stuck! Stagnant. Trapped.

"Feeling stuck is a signal that you have stopped growing. That's it." For many people, feeling unstuck involves having something to look forward to, taking a class to learn something new, or changing your routine.

The Path to Getting Unstuck

The concept is simple: if you're feeling stuck, it's a sign that you need to learn something. Get out there and teach your inner self. Learn something new, do something different, and change your path. Break the monotony, do something different and get unstuck!

You can do it!

Feeling stuck is a universal experience, but it doesn't have to be permanent. Whether it's through seeking professional help or making a conscious effort to change your routine and learning something new, you have the power to move beyond feeling stuck. Embrace the journey of growth and self-discovery.
